BELFAST and ROCKLAND – Glendon E. and Caroline D. Gurney of Belfast both died peacefully in their sleep Friday Nov. 11, 2005. Glendon passed at his home in Belfast and Caroline passed at a healthcare facility in Rockland. Glendon was born Aug. 16, 1911, to Henry and Margie (Sanborn) Gurney. Caroline was born July 5, 1913, to Mark and Myra (White) Dolloff. They were married 71 years and lived in Belfast most of their lives. They supported Belfast sporting events. They enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling together. Glendon worked for Central Maine Power as a district forman retiring 32 years ago. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Caroline dedicated herself to her husband and son. Glendon and Caroline are survived by one son, Henry “Jack” Gurney and his wife, Polly, of Cape Elizabeth; two grandsons, Gary Gurney and his wife, Deana, of Bowdoin, and Robert Gurney and Jackie Shea of Rockland, Mass.; one great-granddaughter, Stephanie Gurney of South Portland. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Rackliffe Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at with the Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.
