PITTSFIELD – Glenice Mae Emery, 71, passed away very peacefully April 19, 2005, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Glenice was born Sept. 10, 1933, the daughter of Carroll and Erma Mae (Ross) Emery. Glenice was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Emery; and sisters, Dorothy Dallaire, Frances Buckley and Nena Pollard; also half-sister, Evelyn Hebert. Surviving is a sister, Carol Jean Nichols of Palmyra; and brother, Lawrence Emery of Pittsfield; an aunt, Lydia Emery of St. Albans; also numerous nieces and nephews, all of them special to her. Glenice was a musician, poet, and a founding member of the Congregational Church of Pittsfield, where she was very active in all aspects of the church in her younger years. She was a past member of the Maine Poetry Society. In the last year, she was honored with a plaque at the Pittsfield Public Library and most recently as a nominee for nursing home patient of the year at the State House in Augusta. She worked from an early age in the shoe industry in Maine. Most recently she was employed at SAS in Pittsfield. Her Family, friends and her work were the most important things in her life. There will be a graveside service 1 p.m. April 30, at Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield, to celebrate her life. The family wishes to express its thanks to Sebasticook Valley Hospital Staff; Sebasticook Health Care Facility and caring staff; Dr. John Dow, Dr. Flannigan and Dr. Hewitt for the excellent care she received during her illness.
