SOUTHWEST HARBOR -Gloria Louise Gunn, 77, died July 14, 2004 at MDI Hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Tremont, the daughter of Max Clellan and Letitia Mary (Latty) Gunn. Gloria is survived by her sister, Patricia and her husband, Harry Morrill, of Portsmouth, N.H.; her Aunt Barbara Sawyer; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Max Jr. and Rodney; and one sister, Betty King. Gloria graduated in 1949 with a degree in nursing from Mercy Hospital in Portland. She went on to a lifetime career in nursing at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston. She retired as the head of the Maternity Department in 1987, when she returned to Mount Desert to live in Southwest Harbor. She lived and traveled extensively throughout the world, always returning with joy to her garden. She enjoyed a good mystery, good food and the love of her family. Gloria was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Manset. Graveside memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
