OLD TOWN – Gloria M. (Briggs) Shorey, 82, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, with her family by her side, after a brief illness. She was born April 5, 1926, the daughter of George and Hortense (Sibley) Briggs. Gloria was a proud member of Cardville United Pentecostal Church. Gloria is survived by her spouse of 62 years, Earl P. Shorey; children, Linwood Shorey of Florida, Peggy Kennedy and her husband, Glen, of Greenbush, Maynard Shorey of Ellsworth, Douglas Shorey and his wife, Barbara, and David Shorey and his wife, Susan, of Old Town; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; siblings, Gwen Farren and her husband, Harold, of Cherryfield, Dick Briggs and his wife, Florence, William Briggs of Florida, David Briggs and his wife, Rosalee, of Windham, Clinton Briggs and his wife, Janet, of Charleston and Linda Smith and her husband, Herbert, of Jonesport. She was predeceased by her parents, along with her siblings, Harold Briggs, Audrey LaMountain and Laura Pellitier. Viewing hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Cardville United Pentecostal Church, Cards Ridge Road by Pastor William R. Roix. Interment will be held after at Maple Grove Cemetery, Pea Cove, Bennoch Road, Old Town. There will be a luncheon and fellowship after the interment at Christ Church of Faith Fellowship Hall, Pea Cove. Services entrusted to the care of Birmingham Funeral Home.
