WILLIMANTIC – Gordon Wayne Leavitt, 70, died unexpectedly Oct. 3, 2006, at C.A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. He was born April 27, 1936, in Willimantic, the son of John and Helen (Smith) Leavitt. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He worked as a mechanic for most of his life, something he passed on to his sons. He enjoyed giving mechanical advice, spending time with his twins, Kayla and Caleb and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He will be sadly missed by many. He is survived by his children, Paul Leavitt and Barbara of Parkman, Joey Leavitt and wife, Helen, of Guilford, Wendy Emery and Warren of Dover-Foxcroft, Michael Leavitt and Dotty of Willimantic, Jason Leavitt of Willimantic, Kayla Linkletter and Caleb Linkletter, both of Athens; grandchildren, Amanda Farmer and husband, Donnie, of Guilford, Erick Ryder of Sangerville, John Morales of Parkman, Chris Morales of Parkman, Aime Phelan of Alexander; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Beatrice Storer of Guilford, Elsie Goodridge of Abbot, Thelma King of Guilford, Mary Jane Erickson of Monson, Marilyn Gordon of Maryland, Pauline Myers of Connecticut and Richard Leavitt of Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Hatch; and brother, Robert Leavitt. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Willimantic, with Pastor Greg Loveless officiating.
