BEALS – Grover Cleveland Faulkingham Sr., 85, of Beals Island, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at the Sunrise Care Facility, Jones-port after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Jonesport, the son of William and Lena (Merchant) Faulkingham. He was a member of the Beals Wesleyan Church. Grover spent his life working around the ocean, digging clams, seining, sardine factories, fishing, dragging and lobstering. In his later years, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in various sporting events. Grover loved boat racing. He spent many 4th of July holidays on Moose-a-bec Reach watching the world’s fastest lobster boat races and racing the Bobbie Jo and Bud. Grover is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth (Beal) Faulkingham; sons, John and Doris, Grover Jr. and Cheryl and Earle and Lenore; grandchildren, Benita Alley and her husband, Raymond, Linda Eaton and her husband, Gary, Loren Faulkingham and his wife, Melanie, Trudy Alley and her husband, Tim, Valerie Faulkingham, Bobbie Joe Alley and her husband, Troy, Jason Faulkingham and his fianc?e, Andrea, and Cassie Mitson and her husband, Caleb; great-grandchildren, Misty Kelley and her husband, Patrick, Martin Alley, Kristy and Keith Eaton, Daniel Faulkingham, Mallory Alley, Isaiah Faulkingham, Kali, Kaci and Karli Alley, Tyler and Hannah Faulkingham and Jacob Mitson; and great-great-grandson, Anson Kelley; a brother, Ronald Faulkingham of Skowhegan; special friends, Karen and Dale Thompson and Veronica Faulkingham; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; special aunt and uncle, Ellery and Mandie Merchant; four brothers and two sisters. Visiting hours will be held 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Alley’s Bay Wesleyan Mission, Alley’s Bay Road, Beals Island. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the church.
