WOODLAND – Guy F. Michaud, 75, beloved husband of Ellen May (Grant) Mich-aud, died March 13, 2004, at Bangor. He was born May 31, 1928, in Caribou, the son of Frank and Sophie Michaud. He was a graduate of Caribou High School and received his BS degree in business administration from Ricker College. Mr. Michaud enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945, and served during World War II. In 1950, he was called back to active duty to serve during the Korean War. He served in Germany, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam, retiring from active duty in 1969. Following his military retirement, Guy was employed for several years at Caribou Ford and P. Harold Albair Hardware. For eight years, he was employed as a vocational instructor at Caribou High School. He married Ellen May (Grant) Michaud on Feb. 9, 1952. For 26 years, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland. More recently, Guy was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Sweden, where he served as a deacon as well as being the coordinator of the Lords Food Pantry at the Church. He was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW, DAV Post 10 Presque Isle, and was a volunteer driver for the DAV. Guy was also an avid outdoorsman and was a longtime member of Sportsman Inc. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 52 years, Ellen May of Woodland, are one son, Rodney Lee Michaud of Brunswick; one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Wally Babbidge of Talent, Ore.; four brothers, Joseph of Canton, Conn., Leonard of Hermon, Arthur of Caribou, and William of Presque Isle; three sisters, Iva Sparks of Caribou, Anna Quist of Stockholm, and Leona Petroski of Enfield, Conn.; six grandchildren, Melinda and Richard Michaud, Shanna, Lori, Carlton and John Babbidge; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Michaud was predeceased by a brother, Alfred; and a sister, Alice Lagasse. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 noon Wednesday until time of services at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Winters officiating. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Michaud may do so through Lords Food Pantry, care of First Baptist Church of New Sweden.
