BREWER – H. Kenneth Rand, 83, husband of the late Pauline (Collins) Rand, died May 7, 2008, at his Brewer home. He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Waterville, the son of Harold and Georgena (Simpson) Rand. Ken served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He worked for Eastern Corp., Frank’s Bakery and retired from Prentiss & Carlisle after 35 years of service and enjoyed writing his memoirs and other books. Ken was a member of the National Association of Accountants, the Brewer VFW and was a past chairman of Brewer Republican Committee. He had much love and respect for his parents, his siblings, his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. Ken was extremely proud of his Canadian heritage and loved visiting his mother’s homestead in Chatham, New Brunswick and his Canadian relatives. He is survived by his children, Karen L. Lake of North Palm Beach, Fla., Dr. Craig B. Rand and his wife, Patricia, of Brewer, Kent L. Rand of Worthington, Ohio, Keith C. Rand of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Dorothy MacLeod and Janet Ramsdell, both of Bangor; 13 grandchildren, Stacey E. Cluney, Tina D.J. Cluney, both of North Palm Beach, Fla., Shannon M. Maguire of San Diego, Dr. C. Bradford Rand and Betsy of Brewer, Bridgette P. Saunders and Gary of Bangor, Brianna Bell and Jon of Hollis, Brittany E. Rand of Brewer, Angela Titensor and Greg of Yuma, Ariz., Leah Vance and Brian of San Antonio, Melissa M. Rand, Jonathan Rand, Jenna Rand, Michael K. Rand, all of Yuma, Ariz.; nine great-grandchildren, Olivia V. Rand, Gwyneth R. Rand, Nora E. Saunders, Kyle Titensor, Benjamin Titensor, Kendra Titensor, Mia Titensor, Kara L. Vance and Joshua Vance. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Beaulieu. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 639 Grandview Ave., Bangor, with Bishop Hans Peterson officiating.
