HARLAND P. PERKINS WINTERPORT – Harland Preston Perkins, 89, husband of Jean (Curtis) Perkins, died Dec. 23, 2003, at a Bangor health care center. He was born Dec. 25, 1913, in Winterport, the son of Alger P. and Daisy (Dunton) Perkins. Harland graduated from Winterport High School. He was retired from the Maine State Highway Commission with 40 years of service. He then worked as road foreman for the town of Winterport for six years. Harland loved to garden in his retirement. He and Jean enjoyed many friends who stopped by for a cup of coffee. Harland is survived by Jean, his wife of 64 years; and two sons, G. Preston Perkins of Winterport and Stuart M. Perkins of Norridgewock. There are no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, with pastor Keith Cushman officiating. Harland will be buried in the spring in the family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport.
