ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Harold Freeman Walker, 76, died at home, Saturday, May 1, 2004, under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Glenburn, to Freeman and Mildred (Edminster) Walker. He was a skilled auto mechanic and retired after serving 27 years in the Army and Air Force. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Blue Lodge in Kenduskeag and Provost Guard Shriner in Bangor. He enjoyed caring for homeless children and helping them with life skills and education and also fishing with his buddy, Steve Carter of Glenburn. In 1988, he moved to Florida from Glenburn, where he continued restoring antique autos with the Pasco Road Runners, bowling, and golf. His loving family includes his wife of 49 years, “Jo” Walker of Zephyrhills; three sons, Harold (Vee) Walker of Van Nuys, Calif., Galen (Sue) Walker of Carmel and Freeman (Paula) Walker of Broadway, Va.; three daughters, Dianne (Bill) Riehely of Kingman, Ariz., Margie (Bob) Day of Exeter, and Susan (Gary) Thayer of Harrisonburg, Va.; three sisters, Jerri Burke of Bar Harbor, Ada Boudreaw of Orono and Mary (Dick) Jones of Seminole, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Gary Jr., Dianna, Andy, Jason, Steven, Michael, Valerie, Jesse, Kari, Matthew, Derick and Cheyenne; six great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews.
