MILO – Harold G. Jay, 92, husband of the late Phyllis (Foster) Jay, died July 19, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born Jan. 6, 1915, in Houlton, the son of Sylvester I. and Margaret (Myshral) Jay. Harold grew up in Aroostook County and was a member of the National Guard. He worked numerous jobs until moving to Milo in 1950, when he went to work for the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad, retiring in 1971. He had a love of farming and gardening. He raised beef cattle and milk cows for a number of years, and always had a huge garden with enough vegetables for the whole family, as well as friends and neighbors to enjoy. Harold is survived by four sons, Richard and his wife, Eileen, Terry, Eugene and Kevin and his friend, Laurie, all of Milo; a daughter, Diane Perkins of Milo; two daughters-in-law, Diane Jay and Madeline Jay, both of Milo; a brother, Robert Jay and his wife, Frances, of Milo; a sister, Katherine Thackery of Biggs, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grand-children, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis; and three sons, Glenwood, Wendell and Dennis. Graveside memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, with Pastor David Mumford officiating.
