TOPSFIELD and FORT KENT Harold Long, 73, went home to be with his Savior Aug. 11, 2008, with family by his side at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Fort Kent, the son of Herby and Marion (Pelletier) Long. Harold quit school at an early age and went to work in the woods to help support his family. He owned and operated his own skidder for many years before retiring. He loved to be with his family and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching wrestling. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Plourde) Long; two sisters, Annette Duprey and Lena “Dean” Morin; and a brother, Roger Long. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Ronald Round of Enfield and Mary and Neil Albee of East Machias; two brothers, Darold Long of Berlin, Conn., and Larry Long of Fort Kent; four grandchildren, Monica, Justin, Melinda and Emily; many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Hunnewell Acres Cemetery, Topsfield. A gathering for friends and family will be after at Harold’s home in Topsfield.
