BANGOR – Harriet Eleanor Drinon, 79, wife of Richard L Drinon Sr. died Aug. 21, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare center. She was born May 31, 1926, in Bangor, a daughter of Milton B. and Minnie (Hall) Duncan. Harriet graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1942. She attended Husson College and the University of Maine. She was employed by the Boy Scouts of America, American Red Cross, and New England Telephone Company. She retired from the Waverly Restaurant in 1988 after 15 years employment. Harriet was a life long member of Essex Street Baptist Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority International for over 50 years, where she was past president and woman of the year in 2000-2001. She had many long lasting friendships with her sisters in the sorority. Harriet and Dick wintered in New Mexico for six years and Florida one year. Together they volunteered for Meals for Me in the 90’s in the Bangor and Orono area. She is survived by her husband, best friend, and companion, Richard “Dick” Drinon Sr., of Bangor; one son, Richard Drinon Jr. of Topeka, Kansas; two step children, Daniel T. Drinon of Hermon, Laurie Ann Drinon-McLain of Independence, Mo.; a step-granddaughter, Amy Larcombe and a great-step-grandson, Slade, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Elizabeth Navonis of Hermon; two brothers, Carroll Oakes of Bangor, and Milton Duncan Jr. of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Leo and Annabelle; a brother, Robert; and a special nephew, Warren Smith. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where officers and members of Beta Sigma Phi will conduct a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Wilbur, Pastor of Essex Street Baptist Church, officiating. Private interment will be held Friday at the Duncan family lot at Mount Hope Cemetery.
