BUCKSPORT – Harriet Fisher Hill, 89, died Oct. 19, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 18, 1915, in Ray, Ariz., the daughter of Sidney H. and Edna B. (Byers) Fisher. She attended Winterport and Bangor schools. For many years she and her husband, Marion F. “Pop” Hill, were the proprietors of Hill’s News Stand, Bucksport, where she became a familiar face to many behind the soda fountain. She was a talented artist, active in the art community including the Bangor State Fair Art Show. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, quilting, woodcarving, knitting and handiwork of all kinds. She attended Elm Street Congregational Church, was a member of the Bucksport Historical Society and a former member of the October Club. She was a member of the Felicity Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 195, where she served as Past Matron and Past Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls. Harriet is survived by her children, Patricia Adams of Bucksport, and Bob Hill and his wife, Patricia, of Lutz, Fla.; grandchildren, Judy Krygier, Glenn Adams and his wife, Terry, Jeffery Adams and his wife, Stacey, Scott Hill, and David Hill; great-grand-children, Katherine-Harriet and Kyle Krygier, Ian and Amy Adams, Keegan, Seth, and Shelby Adams. She was predeceased by her husband, Marion “Pop” Hill on Aug. 27, 1987; two sisters, Roberta Fisher and Ellen Tracy; one brother, Dean Fisher. Interment will be in Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Monroe.
