CARIBOU and CROOS LAKE – Harriett Cora (Emery) Cousins, 68, died Jan. 26, 2005, at Caribou, following a brief illness. She was born Feb. 29, 1936, at Caribou, the daughter of Lewis G. and Ellen (Paul) Emery Sr. She was a graduate of the Caribou High School and the Bangor School of Cosmetology with a cosmetologist degree. Harriett was also a graduate of the Advanced School of Cosmetology and Hair Style in Chicago, Ill. Harriett was a well-known beautician for 40 years. She was the manager of the Loring Air Force Base Beauty Shop for a number of years and was self-employed in her home for many years. She was a hard worker and was actively involved in the community. Harriett was an active member of the Caribou United Baptist Church and was part of the committee for the Baptist Church Archive. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Elizabeth Chapter, O.E.S. and an active member of the Caribou Historical Society with a very special interest in the Whittier Museum. She was a Pioneer Girl leader and was the driving force of her 1955 high school reunion. Harriett was very involved in baby-sitting and looked forward to baby-sitting for her grandkids at anytime. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She married Stewart M. Cousins on July 6, 1957. Surviving in addition to her husband of Caribou; are one son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Kim Cousins of Woodland; one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Dale Chamberland of St. Agatha; her grandchildren, Ryan and Shelby Cousins, Robbie, Kevin, Joshua and Matthew Chamberland; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many friends including a special friend, Nancy Allen of Caribou. She was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law, Leigh and Tina Cousins; and two grandchildren, Cortina and Cody Cousins; and a brother, Lewis G. Emery Jr. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with evening memorial services being held at 7:30 p.m. by the officers and member of the O.E.S. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at the Caribou United Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Kiehn, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Harriett may do so through the Caribou Historical Society. Envelopes may be obtained through the funeral home.
