PORTLAND – Harriette Nicholson, 80, formerly of Stockton, Calif., Bangor and the Camden and Rockland areas, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Stockton, Calif., a daughter of Harry and Elinor Nelson Laurence. She attended Stockton schools and was a graduate of Husson College in Bangor with a bachelor of arts in business administration. Mrs. Nicholson met her husband, Dwight Nicholson while working for the U.S. Navy in California. Mrs. Nicholson was an executive secretary, and most recently before her retirement was a real estate agent for Century 21 in Bangor. She also worked with Wyeth Museum in Rockland. She enjoyed gardening, contract bridge, knitting, and cooking. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and American Contract Bridge League, and active with the YWCA of Bangor. She was predeceased by her son, Clifford Dwight Nicholson in 2004. She is survived by one daughter, Paulette Ferguson and her husband, Norman, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Lee A. Johnson of Stockton, Calif., and Laura Rosenbaum of Bull Shoals, Ark.; three grandchildren, Kim Dionne and her husband, John, of Brewer, Allyson Sprague of Bangor, and Alyssa Nicholson of Newbury, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Evan Dionne, Bridget Dionne, and Jakeb Dionne, all of Brewer; numerous nieces and nephews, and a 96 year old aunt. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. Interment will be at a later date in Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Augusta.
