WHITNEYVILLE – Harry H. “Puggy” Bridges Jr., 80, passed away, Jan. 2, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Whitneyville, the son of the late Harry H. Bridges Sr. and Gladys (Bagley) Bridges. Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Wasp during World War II. He was employed for many years by St. Regis Paper Company. Puggy enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending time at his camp on Fulton Lake. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene (Morrison) Bridges; children, Janet Brown and husband, Harold, of Marshfield, Paula Flaherty and husband, Dean, of Windsor Locks, Conn., and Tom Bridges and wife, Cindy, of Machias; five grandchildren, Heather Jamieson and husband, Wayne, of Texas, Michael Anderson and wife, Sandi, of Machias, Heidi Brown of Machias, Jodi Anderson and Derek of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Shawn Goodwin of Groton, Conn.; three great-grandchildren, Ariel Jamieson of Texas, Kyle Anderson of Machias, and Hayley Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister, Mary Pennell and husband, Ralph, of Whitneyville; brother, Robert Bridges of Northfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Bridges; and a brother, Colby Bridges. Visiting hours will take place from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the Whitneyville Congregational Church.
