EAST BARRINGTON, N.H., and LINCOLN – Harvard B. Emery, 87, husband of the late Gertrude (Doucette) Emery, died Oct. 26, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Lincoln, April 16, 1916, the son of Llewellyn and Edna (Hutchings) Emery. Harvard was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln and went on to become a mechanical engineer. Harvard and his twin, Howard, did their apprenticeship together in Lynn, Mass. He was employed by General Electric and also taught mechanical engineering at both Wentworth Institute and the University of New Hampshire, where he was a professor at both schools. In addition to his wife, Gertrude, he was predeceased by five brothers, Perley, Madison, Carroll, William, and his twin, Howard James Emery; and four sisters, Ruth Ellen Gould, Myrtie Sinclair, Verdi Libby and Christeen Cole. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He also leaves a very special person, Kim Guptil; and many other special friends. He also leaves many wonderful caregivers who helped him greatly during his last few years. At his own request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
