FORT FAIRFIELD – Hazel S. Thompson, 86, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2006, at her residence, after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Winterville, the daughter of Harry E. and Maude (Gagnon) Stevenson. Hazel attended Quimby schools and became a resident of Fort Fairfield in 1940. She married Arthur Miller Oct. 31, 1948, and after his death married Curtis Thompson June 18, 1977. She was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Fairfield. In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her husbands, Arthur Miller and Curtis Thompson; three brothers, Edward, William and James Stevenson. She is survived by one son, Norman W. Stevenson and his wife, Sandra, of Boothwyn, Pa.; one granddaughter, Lynn E. Stevenson of Newton, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, calling hours will be private. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. David Raymond, celebrant. Interment will be after at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the interment at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Thompson to the Central Aroo-stook Human Society, 26 Cross St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
