PALMYRA – Hazel V. Raymond, 74, a longtime resident of Warren Hill Road, passed away peacefully May 7, 2007, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 18, 1932, in St Albans, a daughter of George and Laura Field. She attended St. Albans schools. In 1950 she married Frank Elwin Raymond. Hazel had been a homemaker all of her life. Her hobby was hooking rugs and she enjoyed giving her crafts away to family and friends. She was also a doll collector and especially enjoyed the Betty Boop collection. She is survived by a son, Frank of Bucksport; a daughter, Bonnie and husband, Ron Greenwood, of Winslow; three granddaughters, Ericka Boyer, Janiece Valenti and Crystal Angelo; a stepgrandson, Tom Greenwood; two special great-grandchildren, Jason Boyer and Kassy Valenti; four sisters, Goldie Hamilton of Wales, Mass., Jean Gammon of Hartford, Belle and husband, Phillip Elkins, of Pittsfield and Joyce Braley of Princeton; a brother-in-law, Leo Raymond of Etna; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; two brothers, Oral and Wallace Field; two sisters, Sylvia Harding and Madeline Parsons. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating.
