BANGOR and HERMON Helen D. Allen, 91, wife of the late William M. Allen Sr., died June 8, 2007, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Hodgdon, the daughter of Truman and Elsie (Crane) Stairs. Helen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved people. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and sewing. Helen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the senior citizens group in Hermon. Surviving are one son, William M. Allen Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Bangor; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchild-ren, three great-great-grand-children; one sister, Arlene Hall of New Hampshire; one brother, Hazen Stairs of Randolph; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and four sisters. She will be remembered by two special friends, Mary Bevin and Flora Lord, both of Hermon. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Rick Lambert presiding.
