PRESQUE ISLE – Helen L. Crosby, 89, died Thursday night July 29, 2004, at a healthcare facility in Patten. She was born April 11, 1915, at Woodland, the daughter of Leroy and Isabelle (Cameron) Irving. Helen worked for a number of years for Hayden and Perry Insurance Co. in Presque Isle. She was a devoted grandmother, a faithful member of the Bethany Baptist Church, active in the Ladies Missions groups, Ladies bible study, and Treasurer of the Sunday school. At the age of 80, she and her brother, Dana, traveled with a church group to Israel. She enjoyed yard sales and was quite the bargain hunter. She is survived by a son, David L. Crosby of Eastbrook; two brothers and their wives, Ralph and Madeline Irving of Perham, Dana and Joann Irving of Oxford, Pa; a sister, Dorothy Allen and her husband, S. Edwin, of Westfield; seven grandchildren, David M. Crosby of Burlington, Vt., Kathy L. McNally of Sherman, William B. Crosby of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Leann Grover, of Brewer, Lisa L Crosby and Lori L. Boynton, both of Lamoine, and Lawrence L. Crosby of Naples; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with Clarke Jalbert officiating where friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Immediately following the burial there will be a reception at Bethany Baptist Church Presque Isle.
