BANGOR – Helen M. Chapman, 84, died March 22, 2005, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 23, 1920, in Veazie, the daughter of Gesner and Abbie (Robinson) Chapman. Helen served her country during World War II in the Woman’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and later called Women’s Army Corp (WAC). She retired after 21 years of employment from New England Telephone and worked for Eastern Maine Medical Center as a switch board operator for several years. Helen was very creative with her hands and was good with painting, arts and crafts, and photography. She had a great love for animals and had many cats and dogs throughout her life. Helen was predeceased by a brother, Harry Chapman; and four sisters, Mary Thompson, Lillian Reynolds, Hazel Gross, and Ruth Carita. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie, will be announced in the spring. Gifts in her memory may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
