BURLINGTON – Helen N. (Chase) Smith, 88, wife of the late Vaughn A. Smith, passed away Aug. 6., 2006, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Burlington, the daughter of Roscoe A. and Laura E. (Parks) Chase. Helen loved her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed being a grandma. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting and reading. She is survived by her children, Alton Smith and his wife, Anne, of Lincoln, Janet Smith of Lincoln, Ronald Smith of Burlington, Deborah Hawkins of Lincoln and John Smith of Enfield; two sisters, Phyllis Smith of Manchester, Conn. and Arlene Richardson of Glastonbury, Conn.; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grand-children. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Vaughn L. Smith; a son-in-law, Hale Hawkins; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Smith; a granddaughter, Melissa Smith; two sisters, Pauline Shorey and Mildred Applebee; and a brother, John Chase. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Burlington Bible Church, with the Rev.
