LITTLE DEER ISLE – Helen S. Gelinas, 101, wife of the late R. Carleton Eaton and Robert P. Gelinas, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at her home in Little Deer Isle. She was born Sept. 16, 1904, in Little Deer Isle, the daughter of Charles W. and Frances S. (Scott) Sewall. Helen moved to Connecticut in 1951, where she met and eventually married Robert Gelinas. They lived in Bridgeport for many years and moved home to Little Deer Isle in 1979. She was a member of the Saunders Memorial Congregational Church in Little Deer Isle, Deer Isle Grange No. 296 and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards and knitting and she thoroughly enjoyed socializing with family and friends that would stop by to visit. Helen will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to her two daughters, Sylvia E. Doran and her husband, Harold, of East Hartford, Conn. and Beverly E. Rimkus of Little Deer Isle; her son-in-law, Edgar B. Parker of Little Deer Isle; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her two husbands, Helen was predeceased by a daughter, Carlotta E. Parker; a grandson, Darin Parker; and a son-in-law, Anthony Rimkus. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Stonington. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Saunders Memorial Congregational Church, 46 Eggemoggin Rd., Little Deer Isle. Interment will be at Howard’s Hill Cemetery, Little Deer Isle. Gifts in memory of Helen may be sent to Hancock County Homecare and Hospice, P.O.
