ENFIELD – Ida Brown Wallace died at her home Jan. 30, 2006, of natural causes. She was born June 19, 1909, in Millinocket, the daughter of Herbert and Rose Brown. Ida attended schools in Millinocket and met her future husband, Theodore Wallace in 1933, when he was helping with the construction of the local airport. During World War II, while living in Caribou, she worked at a factory making sandbags for the troops overseas. As a minister’s wife, she served faithfully and lovingly at her husband’s side for many years. Ida was active in church work as a member of the choir, Sunday school teacher and involved in church missions. She was known for her great cooking, especially her homemade donuts which were always on hand. Her hobbies included gardening and fishing, which she enjoyed at their camp on Madagascal Lake. Ida was part of the brave generation that endured the Depression and World War II, with courage and a belief in God and a bright hope for the future. Ida was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rev. Theodore Wallace in July 2002; her parents; brothers, Charles, Herbert, Harry, Ralph, Frank, Sherbie; and sisters, Harriet, Elva, Alta and Cleo. Survivors include her son, Theodore III and his wife, Sally, of Enfield; two grandsons, Theodore IV “Todd” and his fiance, Lola Zammuto, of Derry, N.H. and Matthew and his wife, Patsy, of Minot; two great-grandchildren, Theodore V. “Tucker” of Derry, N.H. and Emma Rose of Minot; many nieces and nephews. Ida was well loved and was a very special wife, mother and grandmother. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln.
