CALAIS and WAITE – Helen W. Williams, 86, died Feb. 9, 2005, at a Calais hospital after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Summerville, Mass., the daughter of Percy and Bessie (Humphrey) Christie. Helen was an active member of the Calais United Methodist Church, Happy Gang Senior Citizens of Calais; and the Calais Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She had many interests; reading, cooking, gardening, visiting her grandchildren and many friends in Rockland and Washington State. Every birthday she enjoyed walking to the lighthouse on the Rockland breakwater and also whale- watching. In her earlier years, she was employed by Ware Knitters, Calais. She was predeceased by her husband, James; and grandchildren, Cynthia Reed and Alicia Williams. Surviving are her son, Gordon L. Williams and his wife, Linda, of Dunnellon, Fla.; one brother, Robert H. Christie of Sebago Lake; one nephew, Brian D. Christie of Washington State; four grandchildren, Christie J. Williams of Rockland, Jamie E. Williams, Leslie D. Livingston and Lee Ann Brusewitz of Washington State; numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at the Calais United Methodist Church with Pastor Lehlohonolo Henrietta Montjane officiating. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to services. Following services a gathering of relatives and friends will be held at the fellowship hall. Those who wish may donations to the United Methodist Church of Calais. Spring burial will be in the Waite-Talmadge Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais.
