HENRY DONALD JOHNSON BAR HARBOR, SWAMPSCOTT, Mass., ROGERS, Ark. -Henry Don Johnson, 65, passed away Oct. 17, 2003, after a long courageous battle with kidney failure and pancreatic disease at a Bangor hospital. Don was born Oct. 27, 1937, in St. Helens, Lancashire, England the son of Henry Rigby and Elizabeth (Atherton) Johnson. Don worked as an iron worker and welder at Capper Neals in St. Helens, England, he was in the British Merchant Navy and served on various ships including the Queen Elizabeth II. In 1968, he was hired by the Jet Aircraft Division of General Electric Co. in Lynn, Mass. retiring in 1997. Don is survived by Mary Ann Gay-Johnson, his wife of 34 years; and her two children, Stephen D. Bell, and his wife Alison, of Southwest Harbor, and Michelle Vargas-Perlman, and her husband, Alan, of Bentonville, Ark.; their children and grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In England Don is survived by his two sisters, Dorothy Conway, and Betty Howard, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A service was held in Tremont on Oct. 21, 2003.
