HOULTON and OAKFIELD Herbert F.C. Carter Sr., 95, died March 19, 2007, in Houlton. He was born April 23, 1911, in Berlin, Germany, the son of Fritz and Gertrude (Hartwig) Rosenkranz. Herbert was a veteran of World War II and was a Golden Glove Boxer. He enjoyed racing motorcycles and cars and attended school in Argentina. He is survived by one son, Herbert Carter Jr.; three nieces, Penny Lindsay of Massachusetts, and Mary Jo Hallifeld and Terri Hallifeld, both of Wisconsin; three nephews, Robert Hallifeld of Wisconsin, Edie Murphy of Florida, and Randy Tapley of Houlton; close friends, Ann and Cathy Colter of Houlton, and Linwood Jameson. Graveside services will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
