CHERRYFIELD – Herbert H. Farnsworth, 90, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at the Veteran’s hospital at Togus. He was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Cherryfield, the son of Amasa and Delle (Watts) Farnsworth. Herbert was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a member of a rifle squad with the 19th Infantry Regiment and the 24th Division in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 8 in Cherryfield. Herbie came to know Jesus as his Savior through Rev. Lord. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen L. (Tucker) Farnsworth of Cherryfield; two sons, Darrell Farnsworth, and Larry Farnsworth and his wife, Pam, all of Cherryfield; four daughters, Sandy White of Cherryfield, Audrey Pitt of Shady Springs, W. Va., Patty Wilbur and her husband, Glenn, of Cherryfield, and Judy Gordon of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son-in-law, Phil White; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Farnsworth; 18 grandchildren, Billie Jo, Daniel, Christopher, Wayne, Tammy, Seth, Todd, Shaylee, Sy, Letitia, Paula, Benjamin, Jennifer, Jamie, Joshua, Joseph, Mary and David; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany, Sebastian, Chris, Nikolas and Sean; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Herbert was predeceased by four brothers, Allen, Paul, George and Neil; and three sisters, Ina Kane, Florice Griffin and Lucille Rich. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Cherryfield. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Cherryfield. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Veteran’s hospital at Togus for the special care they gave to “Papa” over the last three years.
