LINNEUS and FORT FAIRFIELD – Joan M. “Joanne” McKenney, 71, died Sunday evening, March 7, 2004, at a Linneus boarding home after a brief illness. She was born June 25, 1932, at Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Harrison C. and Ann Elizabeth (McCarthy) McKenney. She was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. She loved to travel and especially loved attending events at the Houlton Salvation Army. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Wendell, Gilbert, Carl and Dale McKenney; one sister, Norma Bogaslawski. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Gina McKenney of Bangor; three sisters, Janice Cumming of Springbranch, Texas, Inez Lynch of Fort Fairfield, Claire Esposito of Clinton, Conn.; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of departure for the St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Raymond celebrant. A time of fellowship will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 260 Main St., Fort Fairfield, immediately following the funeral Mass. Those who choose may contribute in memory of Miss McKenney to a charity or organization of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
