VEAZIE – Herbert W. Patterson Sr., 76, passed away peacefully Nov. 14, 2003, at his Veazie home with family at his side. He was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Frankfort, the son of Alton and Ethel (Littlefield) Patterson. Herb attended Frankfort Schools. He worked at the granite quarry in Frankfort and was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed working with wood and making many crafts. He was a member of the Veazie Congregational Church, where he served as a trustee and was also a member of the Veazie Senior Citizens. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Patterson of Veazie; six sons and their wives, Eugene Patterson and Wyona of Orland, Dwight Moody Sr. and Janice of Prospect, Richard Patterson and Jerri of Winterport, James Patterson and Annette of Kansas City, Kan., Herbert Patterson, Jr. and Diana of Prospect, Donald Hillman Jr. and Lona of Overland Park, Kan.; three daughters, Joy Watkins and her special friend, Rocky Floyd, of Salem, Fla., Ruth and her husband, George Hills, of Holden, Lisa and her husband, Timothy Rice, of Bangor; daughter-in-law, Jackie Moody of Prospect; three sisters, Mildred Little of Swanville and Brooksville, Fla., Alice and her husband, Clayton Wing, of Frankfort, Louise Hussey of Bangor; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; mothers of his children, Rosalie Patterson and Cora Ruth Weste; and his son, Dennis Moody; five brothers, Clair, Daniel, Charles, Thornton, Wilfred; five sisters, Stella, Mertis, Dorothy, Maxine, and Phyllis. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Veazie Congregational Church with Rev. Patricia Moore, pastor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the church following the service.
