HERMAN LEGASSIE SR. PRESQUE ISLE – Herman Legassie Sr., 70, died July 18, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born June 12, 1935, in Sheridan, the son of Stewart and Sophie (Baker) Legassie. He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle. Herman was employed by Columbia Forest Products for almost 30 years, retiring in 1999. He had been a past member of the Knights of Columbus and had enjoyed singing with the barber shop quartets of the area. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Gloria (Berube) Legassie of Presque Isle; a son and his wife, Herman Jr. and Robin Legassie of Presque Isle; two daughters, Darcy Carney and her husband, Gerald, of Washburn and Dara Caron and her partner, Trampus Davis, of Presque Isle; 10 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; seven brothers, Raynold and Glenn, both of Presque Isle, Carleton of Ashland, Melton and Milford, both of Presque Isle, and Richard and Stewart Legassie Jr., both of South Portland; a sister, JoAnn Saucier, of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St Mary’s’ Catholic Church, Main Street in Presque Isle, with the Rev. Clement Thibodeau, celebrant.
