LINCOLN – Hilda J. Washburn, 86, wife of the late Lewis Washburn, died Feb. 17, 2004 at a Lincoln hospital. She was born in Lincoln, Aug. 16, 1917, the daughter of Alvah and Josephine (Mott) Libby. Hilda loved knitting and crocheting. She was a hard worker and enjoyed mowing the lawn. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She is survived by a son, David Washburn and his wife, Charlene of Lincoln; two daughters, Carolyn Alexander of Lincoln and Audrey Moores and her friend, Rick Fusco of Northport, Fla. and Rochester, N.H.; three brothers, Floyd, Vernon and Rodney Libby, all of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren, Callie Gordon of Lee, Allan Alexander and his wife, Alice, of Burlington, Kevin Alexander of Saco, Sandy Wilson and her husband, Michael, of Lincoln, Scott and Debbie Washburn of Brunswick, Joel and Julie Washburn of Wasilla, Alaska, Davey Washburn and his friend, Shannon Downs of Burlington, Bruce Thibodeau of Sherman Mills, Michael Thibodeau of Sanford, Judy Camp of Amherst, Va., Kim Caldwell of Early, Texas, Bradley Moores and his wife, Stacey, Jeanine Lewis and her husband, Richard, all of New Durham, N.H.; 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lewis, she was predeceased by three brothers, Leon, Robert and Arthur Libby; three sisters, Beatrice Libby, Lottie Sweet and Irene Bailey. She was also predeceased by her companion, Alfred Davis. Friends may call from 12 noon-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Chester Dana and Rev. Reginald Sweet officiating. Spring interment will be in Lincoln Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations, in her memory, may be made to the Food Cupboard.
