MARS HILL and BANGOR – Stanley O. Weeks, 80, husband of the late Geral-dine M. Weeks, died Feb. 17, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Robinson, the son of Guy and Nina (Gilman) Weeks. He attended Aroostook Central Institute Class of 1942. Stan played town team baseball and basketball in the late 1940’s and 50’s, along with his cousin Floyd Weeks. He supported his young family by working in the potato industry and with his knowledge of handling a pool cue. Stan also liked to fly fish for trout in brooks and streams. In 1958 Stan went to work in base supply at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone. He was later transferred to Dow Air Force Base in Bangor in 1961. Dad enjoyed the time he lived in Bangor. He supported and followed his son, Terry through his years of Little League, baseball, and basketball at the Y. He had several nieces attending area schools and many happy years were spent on Coombs Street. Stan was transferred back to Loring Air Force Base in 1967 and worked there until his retirement in 1985. In 1998, Stan and Gerry made the decision to move to Bangor to be closer to their two children. Leaving Mars Hill was a difficult decision for them, as they had to leave many friends behind. Stan’s remaining years were spent enjoying his granddaughter, Taylor’s middle school, high school, and summer softball games, and visits from his grandson, Alex. Dad greatly enjoyed his final years at Freeses Assisted Living. The family is also grateful for the caring attention given to our father. He is survived by a daughter, Jean-Ann Weeks Lauritsen of Bangor, former son-in-law, Stephen Lauritsen O.D. of Saco, and a granddaughter, Taylor Weeks Lauritsen of Bangor; a son, Terrance Lee Weeks of Bangor; his companion, Patrice Rogers and her sons, Shayne and Jesse Rogers and a grandson, Alex R.
