LINCOLN – Hildred Catherine Maynard passed away July 14, 2008, at a Lincoln health care facility, after a period of failing health. She was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Lincoln, the daughter of Arbel Terrio and Helena Terrio Thomas. She was the wife of Carroll G. Maynard, who died in 1980. She attended Lincoln schools and was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy, where she played sports. She had kept up an interest in athletics throughout her life, especially basketball. She had worked at Standard Packaging, now Lincoln Paper and Tissue, and retired after working for Lincoln Water District. After their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed many fishing trips. After his death, she kept up her hobby of fishing for brook trout along with her friend, Doris Carney. She was a member of First Congregational Church, a member of Bible Study Group and Pilgrim Daughters. She had been a member and treasurer of Lincoln American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed being a volunteer for many years at Colonial Health Care. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a sister and a brother. She is survived by a sister, one niece, two nephews and a cousin. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
