ORRINGTON – Jane “Sandy” (Peirce) Hincks died July 14, 2008, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor, after a short illness. She was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Boston and adopted by loving parents, John and Harriett Peirce. She was an accomplished equestrian and model while she lived in Boston. She volunteered for wounded veterans during World War II, writing and reading letters and giving comfort for those in need. During her life, she was a caregiver for the elderly. Sandy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy; grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Teresa, Jody and her husband, Rib, and Adam and his friends, Valerie and Parker. Sandy was a Gammum to Austin, Jonathan, Ryder and Mason. Sandy is survived by many friends and family including, Lucy, Effie, Tony and Otha. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent; daughter, Lynn; parents, John and Harriett; and brother, George. The family thanks the Maine Veterans’ Home and St. Joseph’s Hospice for the loving care she received. At Sandy’s request, there will be no service. At a later date, her family will hold a memorial to celebrate her life.
