STACYVILLE – Howard Maxwell Guiggey, 81, died in Houlton, Tuesday, May 25, 2004, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Millinocket, the son of Sandy and Florence (McNally) Guiggey. He was a hardworking, devoted husband and father. His favorite pastime was playing horseshoes, which he enjoyed so much after his retirement. In his later years, he loved to watch the wild birds outside his window and made sure he had plenty of bird seed and peanut butter on hand at all times. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Stephanie; and a brother, Ronnie. He lost his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara, in October of 2003. He is survived by four sons, Wayne and his wife, Colleen, Tommy and his wife, Rebecca, Lonnie and his wife, Angela, Steve and his wife, Lorraine, all of Sherman; two daughters, Jenny and her husband, Richard Jackson, of Sanford, Sally and her husband, Guy Lane of Stacyville; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James and his wife, Patricia, and Samuel, all of Stacyville; three sisters, Margaret Duffy of Sherman, Beverly and her husband, Gary Moody, Sylvia and her husband, Freddie Lilley; one sister-in-law, Maryanne Guiggey, all of Stacyville. He will be remembered fondly by two very special friends, George “Bo” McNally and Glenwood Cullins. Friends and family may call 4-5 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Calvary Baptist Church, Stacyville, where funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Booker officiating.
