MACHIAS – Opal Fern (Robinson) Herrick went home to Heaven on April 1, 2004, at a Machias healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 25, 1912, in Wellington, the youngest daughter of Frederick and Faustina (True) Robinson. She married Roy Nelson Herrick on Nov. 18, 1931, and moved to Harmony, where she lived until 1980. Roy predeceased her in 1961. She has also lived in Atlantic on Swans Island, and East Machias. She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Lentovich of Machias; three granddaughters, Susanna and husband, Max Sowerby, of Sarasota, Fla., Lydia Lentovich and friend, Tim Cates, of Waterville, Laura Lentovich and friend, Paul Haney, of Woodland. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and her former son-in-law, Keith Lentovich of East Machias; and many step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, Eliphalet Herrick; and a stepdaughter, Sayrline Story. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the First Baptist Church, Harmony. Donations in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Harmony.
