BANGOR – Muriel Adie Durant, beloved wife of Willard, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born April 6, 1926, in Addison. She was a hard worker throughout her life. She worked as a sales lady, raked blueberries and worked in the bean and fish factories. However, most of her career was spent in the healthcare field. She first worked as a nursing assistant at the hospital in Bar Harbor. She at one time volunteered as a “Gray Lady” at Machias Community Hospital, later she worked as a dietary aide there. She was employed as a chiropractic assistant for a number of years for Dr. G. Uriel Martin of Bangor. She was last employed as a dietary aide at Stillwater Healthcare in Bangor. Her family was her main source of pride and enjoyment. She was a wonderful cook who loved to feed her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was caring for her flowers and tending to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith and prayers helped her family through the years. Her loving family includes her husband of 58 years; two daughters, Wilma and Roy Ireland and Nancy and Almon Emerson; five grandchildren, Darren and Stephanie Ireland and their children, Brandon and Connor, Scott and Amy Ireland and their children, Carleigh and Delaney, Kim and Chuck Giggey and their children, Brandon and Kassidy, Jason and Sarah Emerson and children, Katy-lee, Miranda, Johnny, Jade and Midori, Kaylee and David Braley and their daughter, Ciera; one brother, Christopher Plummer Emerson and wife, Rose; two sisters, Josephine and husband, Kelley Rockwell, and Patricia Crandon and her late husband, Joe. She leaves a legacy of precious memories to all who cared for her. Special thanks to all our friends for their love and support. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
