SAINT PAULS, N.C. and HAMPDEN – Ida Louise Parks, 87, passed away peacefully, April 13, 2005, in North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 30, 1918, in Old Town, the daughter of Lindall and Matilda (Bodrow) Brooks. Ida had lived in Hampden for many years. She had a beautiful voice and when she was 17 years old, sang on the radio in Bangor. Ida also sang with the Casagram Orchestra of Massachusetts. She was a former member of the Advent Christian Church of Bangor, and the Whitcomb-Baker VFW Post No. 4633 Ladies Auxiliary of Hampden. After moving to North Carolina to be with her daughter, she became a member of the Hope Mills United Methodist Church of Hope Mills, N.C., the Sycamore Tree Senior Center of Hope Mills, the Young at Heart Senior Club and the Golden Age Senior Club both of Fayetteville, N.C. She is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara J. McCauley and her husband, John, of Saint Pauls, N.C.; granddaughter, Annette L. Griffin of Hampstead, N.H.; grandsons, John P. McCauley of Olathe, Kan., and Jim W. McCauley of Robins Air Force Base, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher and Stephen Griffin, Rebbecca, Zack and Brian McCauley and Tyler, Towa and Taishi McCauley. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter J. Parks in 1984. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hanson, pastor of the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be later in the springtime at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
