THORNDIKE – Ida M. McGilly, 73, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. She was born April 20, 1932, in Camden, N.J., the daughter of Alexander and Myrtle (Siddons) Murray. She graduated from Cape May High School in New Jersey. She later met and married John McGilly April 1950. Since 1964, she has lived in Thorndike. While living there she and her husband sold real estate for more than 15 years. Ida was a member of St. Agnes Columbus Guild and past president; she was also secretary for the Maine Association of Catholic Women. She enjoyed oil painting, handcrafts, gardening, cooking, golfing, genealogy and listening to Irish music. Ida’s greatest joy in life was all the time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Newell and her husband, Donald, of Unity; three grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly and Emily; two sisters, Mary Ouellette of Nashua, N.H. and Barbara Farley of Wildomar, Calif. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, John McGilly. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. The rosary will be offered 7:30 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, with Fr.
