ORRINGTON – Marlene (Young) Grover, 73, died March 17, 2006, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Brewer, the daughter of Howard and Ruby (Worcester) Young. She attended school in Orrington and Brewer. She was a member of the Eagle’s Club No. 3177 of Brewer. Marlene operated a boarding home for the elderly for several years. She enjoyed card playing and was an avid cribbage player and loved to cook for her family and friends. She is survived by four sons and their wives, Darrell Grover and Mary of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dennis Grover and Cindy of Corinth, Dan Grover and Sharon, Howard Grover and Peggy, all of Orrington; a very special friend, Gregory Hatch of Orrington and his children, John, Jackie, Jill, and their families; and a special friend, Barbara Bouchard. She is also survived by three sisters, Geraldine Look of Bangor, Gloria Shaw and her husband, George, of Orrington, Beryl Barker of Columbia Falls; one brother, Rev. Melvin Young and his wife, Florence, of South Paris; a foster sister, Gloria Kennedy and her husband, Lawrence, of Harrington; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A service remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at East Orrington Congregational Church, with Pastor Carl Schreiber officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the church immediately following the service. Interment will be private for the family at Marston Cemetery.
