ALTON and CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Anna M. MacCabe, 74, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2006, at her residence. She was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of William and Cecilia (Lee) Hewkes. Anna enjoyed gardening, sewing, hunting and working with her hands, especially woodworking. She enjoyed going to auctions and was known for finding the best deal if there was one to be found. She is survived and will be sadly missed by 10 children, Cheryl, Debbie, Scott, Karen, Gary, Scott, Janet, Lorene, Bonnie, Wayne; 14 grandchildren, two brothers, Robert and William Hewkes Jr.; three nieces and one nephew, a life time special friend, Helen Hollum and her daughter, Janet Pace. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James “Buddy” MacCabe. Special thank you to Old Town Family Practice for their continuous care for more than 17 years. Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish in Old Town, with the Rev. Bill Labbe, Celebrant. Burial will be held in the spring at the Alton Cemetery.
