RICHMOND, Va. – Mabelle Libby “Bunnie” Willis passed away peacefully March 16, 2006, at home after a long battle with cancer. She was born June 18, 1931, in Brewer, the daughter of Jackson P. and Doris C. Libby. Bunnie lived much of her life in Maine before moving to Bloomingdale, N.J., Hagerstown, Md., and then retiring to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Port Orange, Fla. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority for 55 years and held various leadership positions in her chapters. Bunnie was also very active in Congregational and Methodist churches in the cities where they lived. The family would like to give our sincere thanks and appreciation to the associates and volunteers of Bon Secours Hospice for their loving care over the past several months. Bunnie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leslie E. Willis; and their children, Jan W. Conners of Pittsford, N.Y., Jill W. Haskell of Tremont, Bruce G. Willis of Richmond, Va. and Scott A. Willis of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by a sister, Prudence L. Crocker of Portland; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A private memorial service will be held in Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the scholarship fund at Seven Hills School, 3602 Hawthorne Ave., Richmond, VA 23222.
