IDRES R. LOTHROP BELFAST – Idres R. Lothrop, 100, died Jan. 30, 2007, at Harbor Hill. She was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Belfast, the daughter of William A. and Gladys H. (Knowlton) Rogers. She was a great outdoors person who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Maine Big Bucks Club. She was the oldest living member of the Northport Golf Club and once scored a hole-in-one while golfing in Florida. Idres was active in many civic organizations, including the Red Cross, was a Shrine lady and volunteered at Waldo County General Hospital. Her husband was head dentist of the dental clinic at Great Lakes Naval Base in Waukegan, Ill., during World War II. Idres was predeceased by her husband, Thomas W. Lothrop Jr., D.M.D., in 1989; two sons, Roger Hall Lothrop and Gary Lothrop; a granddaughter, Pamela Lothrop Marx; and brother, George Rogers. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Rebecca Lothrop of Farmingdale and Mary Lothrop of Bucksport; three granddaughters, Peggy Lothrop Bronsberg and husband, Frank, of Farmingdale, Patricia Lothrop Clark and husband, Timothy, of Manchester and Phyllis Fitzpatrick of Lewiston; grandson-in-law, Richard Marx Sr.; seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandsons. Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at First Church of Belfast with the Rev. Kate Winters and the Rev. Joel Krueger officiating.
