OLD TOWN – Louis “Phil” Gilbert, 65, passed away Jan. 30, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1941, in St. Zacharie, Quebec, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Bouffard) Gilbert. Phil married Sharon Deshane and together they have a son. Phil worked for many years as a sheet metal mechanic at Fort James and Georgia-Pacific. His passion was fishing, and his heart has always been at Schoodic Lake. Phil was always busy. He especially enjoyed walks and four-wheeler rides with his faithful companion, Dusty. Phil was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Arthur Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Gilbert; son, Alan Michael Gilbert of Milford; brothers, Pierre and his wife, Angeaimee Gilbert, of Old Town and Paul Emile of Montreal, Canada; sisters, Therese and her husband, Clement Roy, of Greenfield, Marguerite Gratton of Ontario, Canada, and Ann Marie Jacques of Ontario; brother-in-law, Henry and his wife, Barbara Deshance, of Glenburn; many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his little companion, Dusty. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with Deacon Fred Harrigan officiating.
