PRINCETON – Flora Beaton Leavitt, 96, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at a Calais nursing home. Flora was born Dec. 10, 1910, in Monticello, the daughter of the late Archie and Ella (Miller) Beaton. She retired from Princeton Elementary School, where she was a cook in the cafeteria. Flora received the Boston Post Cane for being the eldest citizen in the town of Princeton. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Leavitt. Surviving are a son, Elmer Beaton and wife, Phyllis, of Monticello; two daughters, Edna Newman of Lubec and Joanne Day of Princeton; many grandchildren, great-grand-children, great-great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews.
