HAMPDEN – Imogene B. Simpson, 93, died peacefully Nov. 5, 2007, at a local hospital. Born June 1, 1914, in Bradford, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Effie Belle (Hanes) Boyer and Charles Boyer of Bradford. She leaves a daughter, Mary Lynn Barton of Scotland; a son and daughter-in-law, James Richard Arthur and C. Susan Arthur of British Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Marti McCarthy and James McCarthy of Hampden; a grandson, Michael McCarthy of Vermont; a granddaughter, Caitlin McCarthy of Massachusetts; a niece, Judith Fletcher of Ohio; and a nephew, Charles Gray of Texas. She also leaves special stepchildren, Gloria Keeton and Robert Simpson and their families of Virginia. She was predeceased by her first husband, James R. Arthur; by her second husband, George Simpson; and by her sister, Mary Edna Gray. The family thanks the staffs and caregivers at St. Joseph Hospital, St. Joseph Home Health Care/Hospice, Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Winterport Family Medicine for their kind and compassionate care. At her request there will be no funeral services. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to make donations in Imo’s memory may send them to Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401 or to a charity of their choice.
