BRIDGEWATER – Iris E. Parks, 78 wife of the late Charles E. Parks, died Monday afternoon, April 4, 2005, at a Mars Hill health care facility. She was born Dec. 8, 1926, at Bridgewater, the daughter of Charles and Cora (Miller) Nelson. She worked at W.T. Grant department store in Houlton and at Potato Service, Inc. in Presque Isle. Iris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great cook, enjoyed arts and crafts, and was an avid reader. She was the past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bridgewater American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 10 in Presque Isle. She was a faithful member of the Full Gospel Assembly in Mars Hill. She is survived by five daughters, Diana Gehring and her husband, Jim, of Bridgewater, Pamela Codrey of E. Plantation, Kristi Pierce of Somerville, Mass., Jeanne Shaw and her husband, Royce, of Bridgewater, and Mary Parks of Mars Hill; a stepdaughter, Lolita Day and her husband, Douglas, of Waterville; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, a sister, Vera Putansu of Sprucehead. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with the Rev. Richard Bell and Pastor Lawrence Beals co-officiating. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater at a later date.
